INTERNATIONAL WINTER ACADEMY

A celebration of Estonia’s rich cultural heritage, the International Winter Academy brings together people from all walks of life to a gorgeous Männiku forest cottage in Viljandi, Estonia.

I am sure a lot of you have questions about Estonia and Estonians.

For example why do we enjoy beating ourselves with a bundle of birch twigs and then run from a hot sauna to an ice cold lake?

Is it really possible to learn how to play Estonian Jew’s Harp in 10 minutes or less?

Why are the Estonians called a singing nation?

Is village swing really the most fun you can have?

Do Estonians ever speak and what is the deal with those 14 cases?

Do all Estonians know one another?

How to create magical patterns?

Needless to say, you will get all the answers to those burning questions because University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy is proud to organize an extravagant week of cultural activities and present Estonia as an inclusive and welcoming place of free-flowing and uniquely rich cultural expression.

The International Winter Academy includes a plethora of programs set to take place from January 30 – February 2, 2017

It is a week of learning, experiencing, tasting, listening and having fun and it features well known Estonian creative professionals giving key-note lectures accompanied by inter-disciplinary  seminars, workshops and of course cultural events.
