We spent one semester (summer) of 2016/2017 in Fafe, Portugal realizing the Erasmus + program. We can state clearly that the above going abroad was one of the most wonderful experiences in our lives. Despite the fears we were having, the exchange student program was extremely sensational. The first weeks, which would normally seem to be the most difficult, we spent in a friendly atmosphere, we felt at home. We saw a great willingness to provide us with assistance, the lecturers and colleagues from Portugal tried to do their best to help us.
We had to pass exams in English, as well as to do presentations and reports. Knowing English allowed us to improve learning skills, to widen knowledge relating to social work in Portugal and other EU countries, and to see the practical side of the above issue.
This student exchange allowed us to broaden our horizons, see the world and make acquaintances not only with the Portuguese. We had met people from Lithuania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, and even from Poland. Studying here in Fafe, we also had the opportunity to visit many cities, including Porto, one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal.
In addition, besides trips and sightseeing we took part, among others, in an international meeting at other university, organized by our lecturer Sofia (from Portugal). It was organised to get to know the basic information about Portugal. We, representatives of Poland demonstrated the values of Polish history and culture, as well as presented information about our high school - PWSTE in Jarosław.
While staying in Portugal, one should also mention about the weather. It was very hot there, the temperature reached 30 degrees C.
Summarizing the above, it should be noted that we are very glad that we have decided to go to Portugal. We recommend Erasmus + for all young people who hesitate to take part in the program. We have lost nothing, we have only gained while staying in Portugal.
We would like to thank PWSTE for getting a chance to go abroad for studying and getting scholarships.
