L Chapliak

On 4-8 December, 2017 the representative of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) - Liubov Chapliak - visited PWSTE in Jarosław at the invitation of M.Sc. Magdalena Bojarska - the Head of the International Cooperation Department in PWSTE, Jarosław who was responsible for the organization of staying the above person from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, which is a long-time partner of the Bronislaw Markiewicz State Higher School of Technology and Economics in Jaroslaw.

The aim of the visit dealt with the Erasmus+ program relating to educational mobility of students and staff of European universities cooperating with partner countries, that is, with other countries of the world. Due to the signed inter-institutional agreements within the Erasmus+ program, the academic staff as well as the administrative workers of PWSTE in Jarosław have the opportunity to visit one of partner universities (not only European ones) in order to undergo training for raising their status and qualifications.

Realizing the above programme, Liubov Chapliak, as a person responsible for the international cooperation of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, benefited from the Erasmus+ programme, which was widened by the scope of its activities to countries beyond the European Union as part of the educational mobility of students and academic staff, resulting from the cooperation of PWSTE in Jarosław with partner countries.

The purpose of the training under the Erasmus+ program was to create a unique opportunity to improve qualifications and skills through the possibility of exchanging experience with the International Cooperation Department of the partner university, which has been carried out bilateral cooperation for many years. The key role, surely, played the development of soft skills, the predispositions for work in an international group, as well as the improvement of language skills. We consider the improvement of skills and qualifications needed in everyday work, combined with the exchange of experiences, as well as the expansion of knowledge in the broadly understood internationalization of higher education institutions as the main benefit of the exchange. During the several-day meetings, it was discussed the ongoing and future cooperation in the field of youth exchange, planning of joint events and seminars or publications.

The foreign guest admired modern equipment of our School, individual units of the Campus, including the library, as well as the Recreation and Rehabilitation Center with a gym, a studio for rehabilitation and recreation exercises and a room with armchairs for self-massage, and above all, cordial hospitality.

Rector, prof. UG, dr hab. Krzysztof Rejman awarded Liubov Chapliak with a diploma, certifying her participation in a few days training program.

It was M.Sc. Magdalena Bojarska, Head of the International Cooperation Department in PWSTE, Jarosław who organized the arrival of the above guest, as PWSTE, Jarosław was the applicant institution that received a grant in Action 1 "Educational mobility" in the Erasmus+ program, where institutions can get funding not only for student and academic staff exchange with the countries participating in the program, but also with partner countries from outside the European Union.

The application written by the International Cooperation Department of PWSTE met the formal criteria and obtained in the qualitative assessment a number of points eligible for funding from the Erasmus+ Program Foundation for the Development of the Erasmus+ Program for the implementation of the Erasmus+ program extending the existing activities to countries outside the European Union as part of the students and academic staff mobility for the academic year 2017/2018.

In the opinion of experts, the application obtained a very high overall number of points by providing comprehensive information on the qualitative questions in which it was necessary to prove, by the way, that the project is a part of the internationalization strategy of participating higher education institutions and complies with the objectives and important aspects of the Erasmus+ program. It was also necessary to describe how the project will contribute to the achievement of defined goals and why cooperation with Ukrainian universities is important for the Polish high school institution. It was justified that the indicated types of mobility are needed from the point of view of the strategic goals set by high school institutions. In the future further visits of representatives from other Ukrainian universities (including students) are planned; the academic staff of our Higher School are going to visit the Ukrainian high school institutions.
