The student of the PWSTE (“Tourism and Recreation” Faculty) shares his impressions about studies in the Portuguese University of the Azores within the Erasmus + program.

During the fifth semester I studied at the University of Azores in Portugal. It was due to the Erasmus + program operating in PWSTE, Jarosław as well as due to the International Cooperation Department, headed by Magdalena Bojarska. My expectations have been fully met. Everything was at the highest level. The island of San Miguel, where I lived, is a paradise on Earth and the best place for those who like to spend time actively and interestingly. The administrative center of the island - the city of Ponta Delgada, it is a very beautiful and comfortable town. I lived in a student home near the university.
Conditions in the dormitory were the best ones. Every person had a single room. Due to unique architecture the dormitory has a lot of architectural awards and the university itself is located in the middle of a large botanical garden. The atmosphere and campus encouraged us to keep focus and be optimistic.

At the university you can find everything you need for studying. I studied in English. There were many practical classes and interesting projects (that's why I did not want to skip lectures :)))) In case of necessity, everyone is open and willing to communicate and help.
The schedule allows you to find time for attractions. The student has an opportunity to work some hours a week at the university. As a result, he/she receives free accommodation or various types of discounts. Life on the islands is cheaper than that on the continent. That is why, the scholarship within the Erasmus + program covered all my expenses. I highly recommend this place to every student, especially to those, who study at the Institute of International Relations.
In conclusion, therefore, I state that there are a lot of advantages regarding my travelling abroad. The most important one – personality development. I have learned to be independent, more internally mature and tolerant. I wanted to check myself, to know myself. I am satisfied with myself as I have achieved my goals. If it goes about my plans for the future, I have undergone a transformation.
After graduating from PWSTE, I plan to go for an internship within the Erasmus + program. In this case I will go abroad as a graduate!
